Medical ID Alert Bracelets & Jewelry

Medical Jewelry, Identification & Alert Jewelry Could Save Your Life!

medical id bracelet

Medical Jewelry, such as medical Id and Alert Jewelry, speaks for you, when you are unable to speak for yourself. Medical identification can be in the form of bracelets, and necklaces with a medical alert id medaliion

Why is it important?

Imagine the following Scenario:

  • You’re all alone
  • You just dialed 911, because you recognized you were medically in trouble
  • You couldn’t speak to tell the 911 operator the problem
  • You flash back to the moment your Health Care Provider advised you to wear a Medical Id Alert Bracelet or Necklace
  • You never found the time to follow that advice
  • You wonder how the Emergency personnel who respond to your emergency, will know about ________?
  • You hope they recognize that you will need ______?
  • THEN……You Lose Consciousness
  • Do you see how Medical Jewelry, medical bracelets, medical alert necklaces, could save your life>

    What if…

You have a condition such as Diabetes, and you take medications to control your Diabetes that could result in low blood sugar.

You’ve had a Gastric Bypass or Gastric Lap band, that requires special precautions when carrying out medical diagnostic therapies.

You have a severe allergyrequiring emergent treatment.

It could be any number of diseases, treatments, allergies, or medical facts that are important to communicate

Can you see why Medical Jewelry is this important?

Wearing a Diabetes medical bracelet or medical alert necklace, or a Gastric bypass medical alert, identifies that special treatments or precautions need to be known by emergency responders

When seconds can count, to prevent cell death or damage from lack of oxygen or low blood sugar, quick intervention is important! Emergency personnel are trained to ask important questions to quickly provide the best, and safest care they can provide. Medical jewelry helps, when you or your family are unable, or unavailable to answer those important medical questions. For some, when a delay occurs, it may have long term consequences, and the best health care decision may not be made in time. I’m repeating myself because I feel it is important: Seconds can count in certain emergent medical situations, be prepared to communicate with emergency personnel, wear Medical Jewelry that can communicate.

Therefore…You need a back up plan if you can’t speak for yourself!

Medical ID Alert Jewelry can be one of many tools to provide the critical information about your medical condition(s).

If you fit the description above, your very first task should be, to discuss with your Health Care Provider what information about your personal medical history is important to communicate when you can’t, and the best method to do that. Keep in mind that you do not need all your medical information on a medical tag, you only need information pertinent to emergent situations, in most cases. There are many ways to provide medical information, discuss which is most appropriate for you, based on your medical condition(s).

Some questions to ask in that discussion:

Should I wear a Medical Jewelry such as a Medical ID Alert Bracelet, or Necklace?

Why should I wear medical identification and alert jewelry?

What information should be engraved on my medical id tag/jewelry, and what is unnecessary?

The questions above, and below will be discussed in future Newsletters:

What optional information would be helpful to engrave.

Where can I find medical abbreviations that Health Care Providers use, while using the smallest space possilbe on your jewelry.

Where can you find providers, and designers of medical identification jewelry.

Traveling? Options for carrying your medical information with you.

Side note: all information provided on this page is MY opinion as a Health Care Provider, and ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, does not take the place of the important conversations you should have with your Health Care Provider.

I fundamentally believe that despite the fact we are a very litigeous (lawsuit/legalistic) society , I want to share what I feel is important and potentially lifesaving information. When we are wide awake, we sometimes do not communicate as we should, so in an emergency, it’s much better to have that communication available to those who care and treat you in an emergency.

The science of Medicine and Nursing in the Health Care setting is consistently evolving, so there are times that something I may have provided becomes obsolete or later proven incorrect. I do my best to keep updated, and correct. When I do research, I check at least 3 different up to date legitimate resources, so feel free to do your research as well! I hope I’ve provided you with information so you can participate in making the best decisions for your health care.

    Healthy Regards,

    Mariska
